Medicine

Being a doctor or medical specialist is a job that will always be in demand. It’s a job that makes a real difference to people’s lives, is challenging but incredibly rewarding.
There are 60 different specialities within medicine, from Cardiology, to General Practice, to Genenomics, to Orthopaedics. Student generally decide towards the end of their medical degree which area they would like to specialise in, once they’ve been given a taster of a variety of departments.

As with all careers in healthcare, as well as an interest in the sciences, mathematics and people, it’s important to be able to demonstrate certain values. Medical students need to be caring, compassionate and great communicators, committed to improving the lives of others and giving patients the best care possible.
