We are excited to be working with secondary schools across Swindon as part of the National Collaborative Outreach Project (NCOP). We have three Higher Education Liaison Officers (HELOs) based in Swindon whose main role is to work closely with our target schools, coordinating outreach events and activities, and ensuring schools have access to relevant information about higher education.
Since the start of the project, we have worked very closely with students and schools in Swindon. In addition to offering in-school mentoring and higher education drop-ins, we’ve helped arrange visits to our partner universities and colleges to inspire students about their future educational opportunities. We’ve also supported those about to leave sixth form or college who did not have a firm destination in place, arranging visits from university admissions teams to talk about making late applications and Clearing.
One of the larger events we’ve co-ordinated involved taking students from UTC Swindon and Lawn Manor to Microsoft Headquarters where students had the opportunity to take part in various interactive activities and workshops to inspire them about their future options. Click on the above link to find out more about what the UTC Swindon students got up to.
