We are excited to be working with secondary schools in Aylesbury and Milton Keynes as part of the National Collaborative Outreach Project (NCOP). We have two Higher Education Liaison Officers (HELOs) based in Buckinghamshire whose main role is to work closely with our target schools, coordinating outreach events and activities, and ensuring schools have access to relevant information about higher education.
Since the start of the project, we've delivered and developed a number of exciting activities with schools in Buckinghamshire. Last July, 40 students from one of our target schools attended Rock Assembly, an annual careers fair with a pop up concert. Click here to find out more about this event. In addition to this, we've delivered numerous study skills sessions, organised a visit to Microsoft, and accompanied students to the Northampton Skills Show.
We have also worked closely with our partner universities on various activities, helping our target schools access and attend events delivered by our partners. For example, 30 students from The Mandeville School visited Oxford Brookes University for a Year 9 'Write On' conference back in July. The event was specifically for boys and aimed to improve confidence in writing, reading and literacy skills as well as encouraging students to consider future careers where these skills would be essential. The conference also gave the students the opportunity to consider the benefits of higher education.
If you're interested in what we're doing, please feel free to get in contact with our Buckinghamshire HELOs to see how Study Higher can work with your school. You can use our map to find your school and your dedicated HELO.
If your school is not shown on our map, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to see how we can work with you.
