Suitable for Year 12 students studying A-level Mathematics
This free two day non-residential course is a unique experience where you will utilise your mathematical skills and apply them to a range of different scenarios and problems. The activities have all been designed to build upon and extend your existing maths knowledge from your A-level studies to help you develop a deeper understanding of the subject. Additionally, we'll demonstrate the links that maths has with the real world, and highlight some possible careers that you could go into with a maths-related degree. You will be carrying out problem solving activities working with other Summer School participants, as well as staff and academics from the University of Reading. There will also be the chance to spend time with current undergraduates and to find out more about studying in the Mathematics Department here at the University of Reading.
There is also an emphasis on the personal and social skills needed to be a successful student. Every year, Summer School participants say they have gained new friends and are much more confident about themselves and their abilities. On top of this, the participants have the chance to find out about university life and the range of options that they could have access to within the field of mathematics.
We welcome applications from all students who are in their first year of studying for a Maths A-level (or equivalent qualification). To apply please complete and return the form below.
