Bucks New University is part of Study Higher partnership, the Office for Students (OfS) funded National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) covering Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Swindon. The partnership is part of a nationwide programme that aims to provide programmes of collaborative outreach in specific, local areas where higher education participation is low overall and lower than would be expected given GCSE (KS4) attainment rates, with the intention of boosting HE participation rates by young people from the most disadvantaged backgrounds.
As part of this project we are currently recruiting for a motivated and proactive Study Higher Project Assistant. This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of Bucks New University’s collaborative offering with Study Higher, to increase participation in Higher Education (HE) for students from backgrounds currently underrepresented in HE. The post holder will work on multiple collaborative projects, liaising with target students, schools, colleges, teachers, parents and community groups.
The post holder will also play a key role in the delivery of Bucks New University’s core Study Higher project ‘Simulate Your Future’. The project consists of a series of school visits using transportable, immersive and interactive, simulation technology. There will be a requirement to deliver engaging presentations and workshops to focus on demystifying higher education and particular careers.
The successful candidate will need to have experience of delivering informative presentations, networking and building relationships with key stakeholders. Knowledge of issues facing the UK Higher Education sector is essential.
