Study Higher has recently been successful in its bid to secure funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) in order to explore the patterns of participation in and progression through Higher Education by Pakistani and Bangladeshi girls.
The Pioneers Project is a research-led initiative which will draw upon focus groups and interviews with current Pakistani and Bangladeshi undergraduates in order to examine whether there are any unique barriers facing this group. The outcomes of these focus groups will be used to trial outreach activities that offer practical, solutions-focused approaches to increase participation to address these barriers.
During the upcoming Summer and Autumn terms, we will be piloting a series of interactive workshops with Pakistani and Bangladeshi girls in local schools in High Wycombe, Reading and Oxford. These workshops will aim to provide students and teachers with high-quality higher education-related information, advice and guidance relating to their post-16 choices.
